When some friends and I decided we wanted to go to the mountains for a writer’s retreat, we didn’t have to look any further than Cabins For You in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Treasured Times awaited us nestled on a hillside, overlooking Pigeon Forge, offering all the peace and quiet (without giving up convenience) that we’d need to flesh out our characters and build our plots
I pulled together all my story notes, threw some warm clothes in a bag and made the trek to the mountains. Peaceful plotting weekend, here I come! A beautifully arranged welcome basket graced the long trestle table in the kitchen, the perfect place for gathering in the evenings to cook, eat and brainstorm our stories. We each settled into our private rooms and hunkered down with our work. I had a cozy spot right off the living room, complete with fireplace and jetted bathtub with a mountain view. It couldn’t have been any more perfect! I finally had a distraction free zone to clear my head and focus entirely on my work.
A cold front moved in the second morning and treated us to a snowy wonderland for even more creative inspiration. But we were more than comfortable with two gas fireplaces to choose from. One evening we gathered in the great-room and watched a movie together on the large flat screen TV. There were even game tables in both the upstairs loft and the downstairs living room. And vaulted ceilings with large windows made every nook warm and inviting. By the end of the weekend we’d shared plenty of good food, laughter, insights, ideas and solved a few story problems. I came away with a sense of accomplishment, camaraderie and a fresh take on my work. All in all, time well spent! And Cabins For You provided the beautiful, home-away-from-home luxury accommodations that made it perfect. I can’t wait until we plan another writing retreat.
