Ready to see the Smokies from new heights? Want an experience you can’t get anywhere else in the United States? Gatlinburg is ready for you! Newly opened May 17, 2019, the SkyBridge – the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America – is a unique and exciting experience and a great way to enjoy the spectacular views of the Great Smoky Mountains! The new Gatlinburg suspension bridge is a must see!
How do I get there?
Open since 1954, the iconic Gatlinburg SkyLift, red and yellow against the blue-greens of the mountains, will take you on a relaxing and scenic ride up to the brand new SkyBridge and SkylLift Park in Gatlinburg. You’ll travel 500 feet vertically to Crockett Mountain’s peak, where you’ll be greeted with views you won’t soon forget. And don’t worry – your ride isn’t actually from the time of poodle skirts and the Jive; the comfortable 3-seater chairlifts were built in 2018.
What’s at the top?
Your Gatlinburg SkyLift ride ends at the new SkyDeck, where words and pictures just can’t do the real-life views justice. The SkyDeck is a large viewing deck with outdoor seating spaces and, of course, fantastic views. You can also grab a bite to eat at the new café, sit down for a drink at the bar, or do some shopping at the gift shop.
Of course, you can’t miss the newest and most exciting addition: the SkyBridge! North America’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge runs 680 feet over the valley, truly taking you on a sky-high adventure! It reaches 140 feet high in the middle, and it even has a section of glass floor panels so you can see what’s below you. The 5-foot-wide walking path will take you to some truly unbelievable views of Gatlinburg – and don’t forget to snap a pic!
