Gather the clan, load the Collies and put on your kilt. This year’s Gatlinburg Scottish Festival and Games will be held on May 15 and 16 but not before they have their annual parade down the Parkway in downtown on May 14 starting at 6pm. If you are a Scot then this is a great way to celebrate your heritage and meet others to create memories. Not Scottish? Doesn’t matter, come watch the games take place!
Starting at 8:30 am on Saturday and Sunday be at Mills Park. The games will start then. You’ll get to watch (maybe even take place) in several of the athletic competitions including haggis hurdling, dancing, bag piping, wrestling, and several others that you’ll enjoy. There is even a Scottish whiskey tasting and food sampling that you could do. There is an admission for this event each day but your covered for the entire day! That could provide you with a fun filled day of Scottish games and festivals.
You’ll also get to enjoy Border Collie demonstrations. Watch as the dogs compete for the winning title. Let your ears be entertained by music from Cutthroat Shamrock, Albannach and Thistledown Tinkers to name a few. You’ll also hear the sounds of pipe and drum bands competing as well as bagpipes and see the Highland dancers all trying to win best in show.
It’s a great way to spend a day even if you’re not Scottish but if you are get the whole clan together. Join us at the Gatlinburg Scottish Games and Festivals this year from May 14-16. It’s a fun event that only comes around once a year. Be sure your there and reserve a cabin today!
