For twenty-nine years now, Pigeon Forge, TN, has played host to one of the most impressive and exciting car shows in the South. This year, September 7th through 9th, hot rods, along with custom, classic and muscle cars will roll into town to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Shades of the Past Rod Run at Dollywood’s Splash Country. For lovers of shiny chrome, deep throttling engines and pristine paint, it is an event not to be missed.
Throughout the weekend, thousands of amazing cars (through model year 1972) will compete in categories including Best of Show, Best Street Rod, Best Street Machine, Soffseal Mighty Muscle Pick and other specialty categories. And new for 2012 will be awards for the Street Rodder Top 100 presented by Painless Performance and Street Rodder Best Ford in a Ford presented by Ford Racing. With a 2nd place cash prize of $10,000 and a 1st place prize of a ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster, this year promises to be one of the best ever!
Whether you are a classic car aficionado or just a casual onlooker, the Shades of the Past Rod Run (a stopover for the AMSOIL 2012 Street Rodder Road Tour) offers entertainment for all. Kids 12 and under are free and adult admission is $10. There is also plenty of free parking available for spectators.
