The 24th Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week will be held from Saturday, January 25th to February 1st, 2014. There will be eight days of free and fun activities for visitors to learn more about the outdoors and what it has to offer.
There are many classes and seminars that you can attend and the best part, they are free! If you are interested in how to improve your photography skills or learn how to use a map and compass, there is a class for you! You and your family can join the photo contest by entering pictures that range from subject related to wilderness to man made landmarks.
Throughout the week, you will have an unlimited number of classes and seminars and even hands-on workshops that will help you connect more with nature.
There are even events just for children, called Kids’ Track. Your child can learn how to keep Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains clean and beautiful as well as learning about nature and animals. They will have a chance to go back in time and play with old games and toys. Children will also have a chance to learn about bears and other fascinating animals that reside in the Smoky Mountains.
For adults, there are endless presentations, hikes, and classes for you to learn all about nature and the beautiful Smoky Mountains. The hikes are especially informative and such a great learning opportunity for visitors. You will learn things such as what to take backpacking, learn about nature and animals and even alternatives to hiking. These events will leave you with a new meaning to the phrase “take a hike!”
You can enjoy all the free events of Wilderness Wildlife Week. All of the workshops, lectures, panel discussions, slide/video presentations, and hike sign-ups will take place at LeConte Center.
