#1: Reserve as early as possible.
If you’re visiting during a peak season, this tip is especially important. If you have a specific amenity in mind for your getaway, try to reserve your cabin as soon as you can. Amenities such as handicap-accessible, pet-friendly and indoor pools are in high-demand – these cabins will usually book before others. Avoid settling on an “okay” property and book early to snag the one of your dreams.
#2: List your “musts.”
Need pet-friendly? What about a home theater? Interested in walking to downtown? These are all important things to look for on your search for your ideal cabin. If the website does not list a specific amenity you’re looking for, give the cabin rental company a call and ask them any questions that you may have. Knowing what you and your family are searching for will make the process a lot easier.
#3: Are there cabins close by?
Some folks picture a mountain getaway as a secluded and isolated escape, while others prefer to have neighbors within sight. If you are searching for a cabin with pool access, know that it is probably located in a resort community and does have cabins nearby. Many cabins offer privacy fencing around the hot tub and outdoor areas to give you the isolated feel you’re searching for.
#4: Ask about location.
Just because a cabin is located in Pigeon Forge does not mean it’s a short drive away! Mountain roads are notoriously curvy and steep, meaning a ten mile trip to downtown could take you much longer than expected. If you and your family want to stay cozy in your cabin then location is of lesser importance, however, if you are intending to visit lots of attractions and eat dinner out every night, you will be happier with a cabin that’s close to downtown.
