There are several special events and festivals hosted by Dollywood during the summer. Each event is fun and unique and gives you a little bit of time to step away from the chaos of the everyday to enjoy life, nature, special seasons, and family….those things that really matter.
KidsFest: June 17 through August 7, 2011, Dollywood will be bringing hundreds of kids from all over the United States for the excitement of KidFest! This is the South’s largest children’s festival! While visiting, you and your kids can experience Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 4D! You and your kids will meet roving characters such as Cas and Walker, Miss Penny and Patches the Scarecrow, and the adorable Trapper and Baxter Bear. Don’t miss out on the colossal fun for the pint sized people in your life!
Dollywood Nights: So you and your kids are desperately trying to hang on to the freedom of summer, Dollywood has a small little treat to help you with that. August 8-14 of 2011, Dollywood will be extending the parks operating hours until 10:00pm each night so that you can clock a few more hours of fun before returning to school! Dollywood will open at 10am Monday through Friday and at 9am on Saturdays during Dollywood Nights. You will find that most of the rides will still be operating during these extended hours. This is a great way to step up the excitement of some of the rides, such as Thunderhead and Mystery Mine…ride them in the DARK!
Barbeque and Bluegrass: This festival runs from August 19 through September 5. During Barbeque and Bluegrass, Dollywood features the best barbeque in Pigeon Forge! This is also a great time to get in on free concerts. Dollywood will be hosting the biggest names in bluegrass music, starting with Ricky Skaggs! Come ready to lick your fingers and tap your toes!
