If you’ve booked one of our wonderful pet-friendly Gatlinburg cabins and are brining Fido along for a vacation, you’re in luck! The city of Gatlinburg loves dogs and eagerly welcomes them to the Great Smoky Mountains. There are endless dog-friendly outings you can check out while enjoying your time away – activities that both you and your pet will love!
Go on a hike.
The Great Smoky Mountains National park boasts more than 800 miles of hiking trails, but be cautioned – not all of them are pet-friendly! Large national parks typically prohibit dogs due to diseases, the threat to wildlife and the threat to your dog (larger predators in the park may view your companion as an easy meal!) Take a trip to either the Gatlinburg Trail or the Oconaluftee Trail – both are 1.5 to 2 miles in length and make for a wonderful day trip.
Stroll through The Village Shops.
Next door to the beloved Pancake Pantry, The Village Shops are a combination of unique specialty stores and shops located right along the downtown Parkway. Pets are welcome here – the wooded spaces nearby are the ideal place to take your pet for a relaxing stroll. While you’re downtown, check out Paws and Claws, a pet gift store that dog owners love. Make sure you swing by to pick up a little something for your pet!
Fly the sky.
If you’ve ever ridden the famed Gatlinburg Sky Lift, you know how awe-inspiring the view is. But, did you know what Fido is welcome on the lift? It’s true – the Gatlinburg Sky Lift happily welcomes pets and will allow your dog to ride to the top of the mountain alongside you. This picture-perfect opportunity is definitely one not to miss!
Get out and about.
Now, not all places in Gatlinburg are pet-friendly. Perhaps one day on your vacation you’d like to take a trip to the outlet malls or enjoy a luxurious dinner without the company of your pet. You can’t leave your pet back home in your Gatlinburg cabin rental, so what do you do? Contact Just Fer Paws, a doggy day-care facility located in Gatlinubrg. With over an acre of fenced yard, this is the perfect opportunity to allow your pet to stretch his or her legs. You can even rent the yard by the hour if you’d just like to come play!
