The Civil War is returngint to Gatlinburg Tennessee. If you are visiting Gatlinburg Tennessee during the week of during June 13th - June 15th, you will be able to experience over 150 performers recreating the only skirmish that took place in Sevier county during the Civil War. Actors from Virginia, Florida, West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, etc will be performing the the reenactment. Period performers will re-enact some of the highlights of the Civil War battle. They will also set up camp and re-enact the “Battle of Burg Hill”. Other activities that will be taking place is a parade and meeting of the generals. The parade starts at traffic light #6 in downtown Gatlinburg TN and will continue on over to traffic light #10. Generals can be met on site before the performance or while they are walking through the streets and in and out of stores. Not only is this event interesting to watch, but it is very informative. You could learn about the heritage of Gatlinburg Tennessee and its role in the Civil War. Watch as cavalry and artillery demonstrations take place. You can hear stories of how women dealt with the Civil War and how a hospital tent from that era would function. Each day holds a different activity. The Living History program will be held on Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. At the living history program you can actually experience the feeling of sitting at an old civil war camp. Friday afternoon around 6 pm the “Siege of Gatlinburg” will take place. The performing soldiers will march through downtown starting at traffic light 6. The “Battle of Burg Hill” will take place around 2 pm on Saturday. The North will face off with the South in a full blown battle, as each side tries to defend their territory. Cannons will go off and soldiers will pass as they fight for their territory. This informative and entertaining reeneactment can be watched by anyone of any age at no cost. The season this attraction takes place is very possible the busiest season of the year.
