While many think that Gatlinburg is just a destination for couples and families, it’s actually also a great place for guys. There are plenty of things to do around town and in the mountains, and this spring, Gatlinburg’s calendar is packed full of activities perfect for dads, sons, or old college buddies. Here are just a few things going on in Gatlinburg right now:
Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament – From April 7th through 8th, over 10,000 trout will be stocked in over 20 miles of local streams for the 13th Annual Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament. With prizes for largest and smallest trout and divisions for locals, tourists, adults, and children, this is a great way for father and son to spend the weekend!
Ribfest, Wings & BBQ – It has many times been said, The key to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So, what better way for a man to fulfill one of his great desires than to chow down at a festival completely dedicated to man’s favorite foods? For the 11th year in a row, Gatlinburg will be hosting the Ribfest, Wings & BBQ festival downtown. From 5 to 9 pm on April 26th, guests can enjoy unlimited sampling (with the purchase of a wristband) of delicious food, including hot wings with flavors such as, “Treacherous Tongue,” “Scorching Screaming,” and “Blazing Bomb.” There will also be a hot wing eating contest, the “Vermonster Ice Cream Eating Contest,” and live music. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association’s educational scholarship fund, so it will be a great time with great food for a great cause.
GFA Fit For Duty 5K Run/Walk – This race, hosted by the Gatlinburg Firefighter’s Association, is a great opportunity for all the guys to test their skills. There are multiple categories, including the Firefighter Challenge, and proceeds will be used to buy workout equipment for local firefighters in order to promote cardiac health.
