New Zombie Adventure in Pigeon Forge is Terrifyingly Fun
I love haunted houses. I’ve been to quite a few over the years, and I’ve found that many of the best ones are put on during Halloween. They’re also often located off the beaten path…in a corn field, in old factories, in a rundown part of town. But in Pigeon Forge, TN, a new attraction at the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center – Outbreak – Dread the Undead – brings a terrifyingly fun haunted-house-style zombie experience to the heart of the Smokies. The storyline is this:
“Dread the Undead. Chemacorp is in trouble, and the military needs your help. Something went horribly wrong when test subjects were exposed to Alpha Strain at secret labs all over the world. Could they have genetically altered soldiers to be ultimate destroyers on the battlefield? We’ll only know if this outbreak remains contained. It’s your job to assist with clean-up and disposal quickly and quietly. It won’t be easy and it might chill you to the bone, but it will definitely be a zombie adventure to remember!”
You start the adventure in the lobby of Chemacorp, where you’ll get a few tips on making it through the lab alive. Then you’ll make your way through the halls and rooms of the lab, trying to avoid being taken in by the zombies. A mix of live actors, Hollywood-level sets and props, and surprisingly scary special effects make this zombie experience exciting, frightening, and memorable to the very last second. Seriously, I ran to the exit screaming! Just imagine, winding through a chemical lab with zombies eating body parts, hands reaching for you through bars and gates, failed lab experiments around each turn, bursts of air, clouds of fog, blood smeared on the walls, and live zombies following just inches behind you…breathing down your neck! If you’re up for a scare, Outbreak is up to the challenge.
Outbreak – Dread the Undead at the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center is also a great bang for your buck. At just $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 4-11, it’s priced well below a lot of haunted houses, and it’s longer than the typical experience. When I finally made it through the exit, caught my breath, and got my heart to stop racing, I was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to Outbreak. You could go back again and again and probably discover something new each time! This new Pigeon Forge attraction is located inside the castle behind the Hollywood Wax Museum (look for King Kong towering above the Parkway) with the Castle of Chaos 5D adventure and Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors. So if you go for the All Access Pass – the best deal at just $29 for adults and $19 for kids ages 4-11 – you can spend the afternoon playing without having to drive around town or look for parking. The All Access Pass will get you into the Hollywood Wax Museum, the Castle of Chaos 5D Adventure, Outbreak – Dread the Undead, and Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors, but it will also give you access to a special VIP area of the Wax Museum. An elevator will take you to the VIP rooftop access, where you can look out over the city and see some of the most popular landmarks of the Great Smoky Mountains. On a clear day, check out Myrtle Point, Newfound Gap, Mt. Collins, Clingmans Dome, and Mt. LeConte, along with the attractions all along the bustling Parkway. If you’re planning on a whole afternoon of family fun, check out their other attractions at the same location…
