River
Raft Regatta
The 4th
of July is a great time for the United States of
America. Remember and celebrating freedom is at the
heart of every American. A unique tradition that is
starting to grow is celebrating Independence Day on
while on vacation with your family. In fact, Gatlinburg
Tennessee has become a popular destination for tourists
in the south during the 4th of July Holiday.
Being the welcoming city that Gatlinburg TN has become
know as, they have created many 4th of July
activities that tourists and locals love to be a part
of. Of course tourists and locals love the fireworks and
the patriotic songs, but Gatlinburg is always trying to
be a step above. Every year Gatlinburg hosts an event
called the River Raft Regatta.
This
event takes place in downtown Gatlinburg Tennessee on
July 4th. This event begins at the River
Terrace Bridge and ends at Ripley’s Aquarium of the
Smokies bridge. This unmanned river raft race will be
hosted by the United States Navy. The River Raft Regatta
is open to any floatable except eggs and plastic balls.
But seriously, who would enter a River Regatta with a
plastic ball. In past River Raft Regatta’s, we have seen
everything from floats made out of matchsticks to
floating rocks and rubber ducks. The River Raft Regatta
is starts at 12:00 noon on the 4th.
If you
are interested in entering the River Raft Regatta, you
can attend registration at 10:00 A.M. on the morning of
the 4th. Admission for the River Raft Regatta
is free and support for the River Raft Regatta is from
the Gatlinburg Recreation Department. For more
